Camellia Season

Camellia Season

If you've ever visited Portland in the spring you've no doubt been witness to the explosion of Camellia flowers in the city. This is one of my most favorite flowers for many reasons, most of all the symbolism behind the flower itself.

Unlike most flowers that leave behind a sad shell of its former self, the husk of the Camellia actually falls with the petals once the flower has finished blooming. This act is often tied to an analogy of the undying union between lovers and protectors.
