In the summer of 2013 I joined friends on a month-long road trip through Iceland. One week of that trip was spent in Skagaströnd where the mystical mountain of Spákonufell looms overhead. We stayed in a cabin built by a man named Gunnar that was situated across the street from a farm with horses.

I visited the horses nearly every day, photographing them with all three of my cameras. Out of seven horses total, these were two of my favorites and they just happened to pose for a shot. I remember flicking up the viewfinder, the horses getting spooked slightly by the sound of the metal snapping in place, frantically dialing in what I thought might be good settings and then clicking the shutter. It all happens in one big blur, but sometimes, ya get lucky.
